Novel Project

I recently decided to take a plunge into the unknown, towards my dream of becoming a full-time writer of poetry, fiction, lyrics and short stories. I left my full-time job at the end of March 2019 to pursue this very dream, after a long time of consideration and planning, and armed with a new burst of confidence after placing third in the first writing competition I’ve ever entered. This was a great honour and a sign that I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing. The rest, I believe, will play out as it will!

About two years ago, I started work on a novel called “Saturn & The Sea” while I was on a three hour flight between Cape Town and Limpopo. The project is a fictional story set on the planet Saturn, where the beloved first lady goes missing, to the great dismay, confusion and fury of her husband, President Gravemore Thatch. The story begins with her removing her wedding ring and diving willingly into the forbidden ‘knipwater’ (melted ice particles from the ring around the planet) and the rest, well, you’ll have to read about in the book. I have character descriptions and storylines worked out already and the goal is to be able to write this project full-time for three whole months.

I recently got the idea to start a crowdfunding campaign for the project, which will take about three months to write and complete. Similar to Patreon and other crowdfunding platforms, every person who makes a $10 USD (equivalent) or more contribution towards this project, will receive a couple of goodies in return:

  • Firstly, they will get exclusive access to the unpublished poems in my ‘Autumn Hazeanthology, four of them, in fact, which follow on from the end of the twelve piece body of work.
  • All supporters will also receive a signed copy of the book, once it is released.
  • Each supporter will be mentioned in the acknowledgements section of the novel, as a thank you for being a part of this new journey with me.
